Check Valves, also described
as reflux, non-return, back pressure, retaining, and clack valves,
permit flow in one direction and prevent it in the reverse direction.
Usually these valves are automatic in operation, the pressure of the
fluid flowing in one direction holding the valve disc open and reverse
flow, along with the weight of the disc, acting to seat the disc and
so cut off the flow.
Check Valves can be divided into four broad categories:
Horizontal Check Valves, Vertical Check Valves, Flap-type Check Valves
and Swing Check Valves.
Of the four types named above, Swing Check Valves have the lowest
pressure drop, followed by Flap-type Check Valves. Vertical and Horizontal
Check Valves have a high pressure drop; their size too is a limiting
factor, sizes greater than 6" are not desirable.
Flap-type Check Valves have all the benefits associated with Butterfly
Valves: savings in space, weight, and size in addition to very low
maintenance...
Saturn Check Valves are manufactured in accordance with various standards
