Pinch valves, ideally suited
for the handling of slurries, liquids with large amounts of suspended
solids, and systems that convey solids pneumatically, are relatively
inexpensive and the simplest in design of any valves. Though suitable
for on-off and throttling services, the effective throttling range
of a pinch valve is between 10% and 95% of the rated flow capacity.
Saturn Pinch Valves are available in ‘sleeve exposed’ and ‘sleeve
enclosed’ versions. In ‘sleeve exposed’ pinch valves vacuum application
is limited due to the tendency of the sleeve to collapse when vacuum
is applied. Flow control in the ‘sleeve enclosed’ version is by conventional
wheel & screw pinching device, or hydraulically or pneumatically with
the pressure of liquid or gas within the metal case forcing the sleeve
walls together to cut off flow.
As the closing mechanism in Saturn Pinch Valves is totally isolated
from the pipeline fluid, the valve gives minimum pressure drop and
hence, unobstructed full bore flow. The sleeve, of a reinforced elastomer
like neoprene, nitrile, hypalon, silicon, etc., is easily replaceable.
In case of the requirement being very specific, a suitable pinch valve
to handle that specific need can be designed and/or manufactured.
